Transit of Venus - some impressions from AUSTRIA

Following a short review of my (global & local) impressions and some picts of our local short Venus-transit-event organized by members of our local astronomy association (LAG) .....

I started my observing session at Mt. Wilson

MANY, MANY THANKS TO MIKE AND ALL WHO MADE THIS GREAT WEBCAST HAPPEN !!!

Sometimes I switched to Hawaii to look at the webcast of Mauna Kea

Additionally I used for my observations some private webcasts by NSN  (Night Skies Network)

Early in the morning at 04:30 MESZ we set up our mobile equipment and started our local public observing session.

Here you can see my mobile equipment. I used a 500mm telephotolens to take some images of this rare event.

Some interested visitors and kids took pictures through our telescopes using little digicams and cellphones.

Due to dense clouds the sun looked sometimes like planet Jupiter ;-)

These shots have been the last ........

..... dense clouds stopped unfortunately our observing session ....

Nevertheless it was a great success and we have been very happy that we could catch a glimpse of this rare great natural spectacle.
