Pelo terceiro ano consecutivo, a Junta de Freguesia de Sandim em parceria com o Observatório Astronómico de Gaia (OAPB) e o Centro de Astrofísica da universidade do Porto (CAUP), realizou o Global Star Party do Mês Mundial da Astronomia 2012. Este ano ainda houve o apoio do agrupamento vertical das Escolas de Olival - Gaia e da Associação de pais da escola EB1 de Sá - Sandim. Houve ainda a participação/representação do clube de ciências da escola secundária de Moimenta da Beira e da Associação de astronomia Ofiuco de Viseu.

Durante todo o dia esteve patente ao publico uma mostra de relógios de Sol de autoria de Pedro Almeida da Ofiuco de Viseu.

For the third consecutive year, the Parish Council Sandim in partnership with the Astronomical Observatory of Gaia (OAPB) and Center for Astrophysics, University of Porto (CAUP), held the Global Star Party of the Global Astronomy Month 2012. This year there was still support by the "Agrupamento vertical das escolas de Olival - Gaia" and the Association of Parents of school EB1 de Sá - Sandim. There was also participation / representation of the Science Club from the secondary School of Moimenta da Beira and astronomy Association Ofiuco of Viseu.

Throughout the day was open to the public a exhibition of sundials authoring by Pedro Almeida of Ofiuco - Viseu.

A sessão começou com uma observação ao Sol, Tivemos telescópios para observação do Sol no visível e em H-alfa, um relógio de Sol mostrava-nos como podíamos ver as horas por estes instrumentos.

The session began with an observation of the Sun, we had telescopes for observation of the Sun on visible light and H-alpha, a sundial showing us how it's possible to see the time by these instruments.

Seguiu-se um workshop para a construção de relógios de sol, as crianças tiveram a oportunidade de construírem o seu próprio relógio de Sol e saber como funcionam.

This was followed by a workshop for the construction of sundials, children had the opportunity to build your own sundial and learn how they work.

Depois de um lanche, o Filipe Pires da CAUP falou-nos de espectrografia na palestra "A impressão digital dos astros" e depois mostrou-nos alguns espectros com um espectrómetro e lâmpadas de diferentes tipos.

After a snack, Filipe Pires from CAUP told us about the spectrography in the lecture "The fingerprint of the stars" and then showed us some spectra with a spectrometer and lamps of different types.

Seguiu-se o Jantar, para depois eu, Joaquim Gomes, falar sobre o planeta Marte em "Marte, o planeta vermelho", a história de Marte, exploração espacial e características deste planeta foram os temas abordados.

After we had a dinner, then I, Joaquim Gomes, spoke about the planet Mars in "Mars, the red planet," the history of Mars, space exploration and characteristics of this planet were the topics discussed.

O Filipe Pires, depois montou um planetário portátil e deu sessões de planetário.

A Global Star Party terminou com uma observação astronómica nocturna, tivemos 3 telescópios à disposição para a observação do planeta Vénus e a sua fase, os pormenores do planeta Marte, as crateras lunares e os anéis de Saturno, ainda foi possível fotografar a Lua através de um LX200 de 8".

The Global Star Party ended with an astronomical night, we had three telescopes available for viewing the planet Venus and its phase, the details of the planet Mars, the lunar craters and the rings of Saturn, it was still possible to photograph the moon through a LX200 8 ".
