In the short time since Astronomers Without Borders' founding the number of programs and participants has grown dramatically. Groups in countries around the world take part to connect and share in the spirit of One People, One Sky. The International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009) mobilized tens of thousands of amateur astronomers who now look for continuing programs. Astronomers Without Borders harnesses that excitement and energy, creating unprecedented opportunities for sponsors to be acknowledged as leaders in supporting science outreach and international peacebuilding. AWB's signature program, Global Astronomy Month, has become the world's largest annual celebration of astronomy.
