About Me
If you take 10,000 people at random, 9,999 have something in common: their interests in business lie on or near the Earth's surface. The odd one out is an astronomer, and I am one of that strange breed.
My Passion for astronomy in Mauritius, South Africa and beyond!
I was exposed to astronomy (optical and radio) after my visit to the Mauritius Radio Telescope (MRT) where I saw the sky maps our Milky Way galaxy in radio and understood how this discipline can give us another perspective in the way we see the world and our place in the Universe. Fascinated by the universe and its wonders, I wanted to be part of the romantic, thrilling adventure to unravel its mysteries and understand the nature of physical reality. After all, pursuing questions like these is a fundamental part of being human.
After graduating at UoM with a BSc(Hons) degree Physics in 2012, I came to South Africa with a prestigious South African SA SKA Scholarship to pursue higher studies for a MSc(by Research) in Astronomy at the University of South Africa (UNISA) and Hartebeesthoek Radio Astronomy Observatory (HartRAO), an observatory under the aegis of the National Research Foundation (NRF), South Africa.
I am actively involved in volunteering, promoting scientific literacy and interest to the general public and have made some scholarly publications. I frequently travel to Mauritius(birth country) to organise astronomy workshops with support of my friends, also from South African universities to impart our knowledge and experience to less-privileged students. Tuned to radio wavelength, I am currently completing my MSc research with publications in accredited journals and intends to start a PhD degree in radio astronomy by 2016.
