Pierluigi Giacobazzi, born in 1971, is an Italian astrophotographer and science communicator. In 2010, in order to spread the culture and passion for astrophotography, he founded and became, to date, president of the "J.W. Draper Association". An Italian cultural Association dedicated to John William Draper, the pioneer of astrophotography. The vision of "J.W. Draper Association" is entirely focused on the sky observation and photography. From 2010 to 2015, he has been president of the "Experimental Centre in Astronomy Teaching" and director of Modena "Francesco Martino" planetarium. His astrophotography projects took him to visit some of the darkest places on the planet Earth, including the Atacama desert, Easter Island, Big Island-Hawaii and La Palma in the Canary Islands archipelago. Member of "The Royal Photographic Society", he defines himself as an "eclipse chaser" and a "cloudspotter". As soon as he can, he doesn't lose any opportunity to expose and immerse himself to the colours of the sunrise and sunset. He conducts his activities of science communicator by holding conferences and organizing astrophotography courses, public telescope observations, thematic workshops and scientific/photographic expeditions dedicated to the astronomical events of the moment. His personal mission is generally focused on spread the culture related to the astronomical sciences.
