GLOBAL ASTRONOMY MONTH – ROVER FROM TRASH CONTEST REPORT

Global Astronomy Month (GAM), organized in April every year by Astronomers Without Borders, is the world's largest global celebration of astronomy. For this year, SPACE has suggested several GAM events for conduction by SPACE associated schools.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Participants – Students of grade 7 to 12.
  • Understanding the importance of Planetary Rovers.
  • This program motivated the participants to make use of this international opportunity provided by SPACE for exposing their creativity and skills of making model of rover from simple backyard tools they have.
  • Participants were given online google form for registration with rules and guidelines for making rover model.
  • Participants made their rover model and published in their social media for our review.

DESCRIPTION:

A Planetary rover is a planetary surface exploration device designed to move across the solid surface on a planet for analysing various parameters. Grade 7 to 12 students participated and portrayed their creativity and imagination by making their own rover model from simple backyard and household trash!

CONCLUSION:

                       The participants registered in online from with their details and made their beautiful rover models with simple household and backyard tools they had and uploaded in their social media pages. The best models has been selected and featured in our social media platforms.
