About Us

O Plêiades do Sul tem por missão e objetivo, agremiar e congregar pessoas entusiastas e interessadas em assuntos relativos a astronomia teórica e
prática, para intercâmbio de ideias e informações sobre ciências espaciais em suas mais diversas formas, tais como cosmologia, astronáutica, entre outros; promover intercâmbio cultural e científico com instituições congêneres nacionais e estrangeiras; organizar e orientar grupos de estudos onde os sócios possam pesquisar e estudar assuntos específicos de astronomia; difundir o conhecimento sobre astronomia mediante palestras, conferências, publicações, observações astronômicas e visitas a observatórios e planetários; orientar e prestar suporte aos interessados em astronomia e astrônomos amadores no sentido de incentivar o trabalho de equipe na observação astronômica.

O Plêiades do Sul tem como valor o legado deixado por Carl Sagan de percepção da astronomia como uma experiência criadora de humildade e reafirmação da importância do espírito de fraternidade humana mediante o
desvelo pelo nosso universo.
