an adventure in science for teenagers

Please join us for at this year’s Summer Space Camp at Northern Skies Observatory in Peacham, VT.

Sunday evening, August 4 through Friday morning, August 9

Five days and nights for middle and high school students interested in hands-on control of sophisticated, state-of-the-art astronomical equipment in keeping with NKAF’s mission of helping improve science education in our schools via inquiry-based learning. Emphasis will be on accomplishing individual and group study projects in which observational data is obtained with use of the observatory’s instruments building on last year’s camp experience.

A youth retreat center in Barnet will be used for most meals and for overnights. It is a simple, clean facility that has a camp-like feel to it with comfortable beds, separate toilet and shower facilities, a large kitchen, and large open spaces for dining and conferencing.

In addition to working with mentors and highly experienced astronomy observers to develop and present their projects, participants will visit the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium in St. Johnsbury and Dartmouth College’s Department of Physics and Astronomy in Hanover, NH.

The cost of the week is $200, but there will be a few scholarships available.  For information or to obtain a registration form please email [email protected].   We look forward to hosting young astronomers. Clear skies!
