Global Astronomy Month kicks off officially in Nepal
The celebration of Global Astronomy Month has started officially in Nepal. On the first day of GAM, the Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) organized a talk program at Celebration Co-Ed School, Narayan Taar, Jorpati, between 13:00-14:00. Welcoming ceremony of GAM in Kurdistan (northern Iraq)
In order to bring astronomy to the people and to encourage the next generation to study this fascinating science, Amateur Astronomers Association of Kurdistan held a welcoming ceremony at Shubat Center Hall in Erbil city on March 31. Approximately 170 people of different ages and from different professional backgrounds participated in this presentation of Global Astronomy Month, followed by an introduction to astronomy.
Soggy opening ceremony of GAM in Austria
The GAM opening ceremony at the observatory in Linz, Austria was held indoors at rain fell outside. But apparently a good time was had by all in the warmth of the observatory's meeting room with special GAM-labeled refreshments, as seen in the GAM Picture of the Day for 2 April labeled GAM opening Linz, Austria.
Observing Jupiter for 24 hours straight in Spain and the U.S.A.
The educational project of the Center for Astrobiology (CSIC-INTA) leads for the second time in Spain a continuous Jupiter observation for 24 hours. Under the guidance of NASA, high school students from Spain and the USA will be observing the planet on April 8. The initiative is part of the celebration of April as Global Astronomy Month.
