With the current global pandemic, everyone is to a large extent confined to their homes. But other citizen science-related work cannot be impeded by such crisis. The Globe at Night Campaign is one of them.

Globe at Night April 2020

We are still continuing its daytime counterpart which is easier given the ample amought of light available while recording data. The Globe at Night activity was more challenging due to the time as well as for the reason that it was my first time conducting it. Patience and keen attention to night sky details are important to record the information as accurate as possible. But one good aspect of this activity is that you are given a wider opportunity to describe your location and observations. For students, this is a good avenue for sharpening the skill of objective describing of events and objective reporting of data. For teachers, this is a good template to show our students on how to work with the activites that only require prescribed information.

It is more exciting to have the campaign conducted at different locations. We look forward to the time when doing Globe at Night will be at a safer location and time after this health crisis.
