Global Astronomy Month

Members of the Harford County Astronomical Society, Bel Air, MD, had planned to set up telescopes and binoculars for a public viewing session. Since it was completely clouded out, we had indoor presentations and a tour of our observatory located at Harford Community College, Bel Air, MD. Even though the weather precluded a viewing session, we still had 21 visitors for the night and 12 club members. We gave out Sun Fact Sheets, Moon maps with moon fact sheets, NASA stickers, Kepler Bookmarks, Stereo Cards, EPOXI cards, Year of Solar System fact sheets, Citizen Scientist sheets and star charts. Global Astronomy Month

On April 17, 2011, from 11 AM to 4 PM members of Harford County Astronomical Society, Bel Air, MD had a display set up at a local Earth Day event. Our focus for the day was Light Pollution and way to combat the issue. We gave out Good Neighbor Lighting materials to adults and gave children light pollution coloring sheets as well as space stickers to remind them to turn off lights so we can see the night sky.
