Mars Viewing Report from Nicaragua

On July 28 2018, the Association of Amamteur Astronomers of León-Nicaragua (ASAFILE), organized a free public outreach event, in a public place located in the downtown of the city, where people had the chance to observe the "Red Planet" taking into consideration its closest approximation to our planet . Schools Astronomy Talks + Solar Outreachs in Nicaragua

During 2016, Amateurs Astronomer of León, Nicaragua, have been visiting local schools in order to promote astronomy through talks and solar outreaches. These visits have been coordinated with the Department of Natural Sciences of local University, UNAN-León. Besides, we donate to schools solar filter glasses to use them in their science classes and encourage to students and teachers to be more involved with astronomy issues, until this date we have visited 12 schools in our city: León. 2016- Transit of Mercury

On May 2016, teachers and students from a public university and shool teachers in León, Nicaragua received talk about the transit of Mercury. Weather helped us with clear skies so afterwards they enjoyed to observed the Transit by themselves. ASAFILE members worked with the authorities of the University to explained to assitants of the talk about the causes of the transit, how often the transit occurs during this century, the double sunrise in the planet and its main characteristics. Visiting a school for talks and solar observation

Amateur Astronomers from León, Nicaragua, sharing with high school students (Calasanz) in León, Nicaragua, giving talks, doing solar observations and sharing experiences on Tuesday April 19 and Wednesday April 20. Students participated actively during each talk, with questions and opinions about Astronomy Science, we encouraged them to be more involved with it and we are planning to visited them again into the near future..... Celebrating 2016 Global Star Party

We celebrated 2016 Global Star Party in the Central Park of Leon, Nicaragua. Adults, Youngsters and Kids, enjoyed to observe the Moon and Jupiter, they showed their interest to learn and have a better understanding about Planets, Moon and Sun. Furthermore, it was explained about the importance of learning about dark skies , stars and constellations. Leaflets about Moon facts were also delivered to assistants of the activity. Amateur Astronomers of León, Nicaragua (ASAFILE), were giving a talk to teachers of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of UNAN-Leon. The talk was about how to use the free astronomy software: Stellarium, how can be download it and how they can use it to strength their capacities. Presentation of Solar System Models

March 12, 2016: Presentation of Solar System Models performed by students of UNAN in Leon Nicaragua, one of our members (Association of Amateur Astronomers of León - ASAFILE) acted as judged to qualify each model in accordance to patterns designed by teachers of the University.
