Astronomers Without Borders (AWB) has an immediate opening for a Virtual PROJECT COORDINATOR. AWB is a small nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading astronomy throughout the world. AWB annually organizes several outreach events all over the world. Our goal is to create goodwill and understanding across all borders through the sharing of astronomy.
The Project Coordinator will play a critical role in our 2017 U.S. Total Solar Eclipse Educational Outreach project. The position is full time and will last through October. The 2017 U.S. Solar Eclipse Educational project goal is to bring resources and educational material to underserved schools and communities, as well as provide resources for continuing STEM education based on the Sun. Working closely with the Program Manager and Principal Investigator, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for creating and maintaining a contact database of underserved educational institutions and communities, supporting fundraising campaigns and tracking their progress, and communicating with school and community organizers as well as our expert educators to provide information and support when needed.
This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced small nonprofit organization. In addition, intermediate Word and Excel computer skills are required. Experience with crowdfunding is preferred. Experience creating and maintaining a database is desired. Strong interest in astronomy or science education or outreach is a plus. The successful candidate will be telecommuting and must reside in the USA.
