Andrei epilogue 1

Andrei epilogue2

For the first part of the Epilogue I’ve chosen two Bucharestian monuments: a sunrise with the far silhouette of the Domnita Balasa Church, and a sunset with the Saint Mina Church.

These are connected to the memory of Constantin Brancoveanu (1654-1714), the last monarch from Basarab Dinasty (which ruled in the Romanian Land in between 1290 and 1714), being created after 1720 by his daughters Balasa and Ancuta (together with his friend Vergu).

Brancoveanu’s main legacy consists of:

-A supreme model of dignity for Romanians because, called by the Ottoman Sultan to Istanbul, he didn’t accept to change his Christian religion and preferred to be killed together with all his four sons.

-a special architectural style, the basis for the neo-Romanian style, including solar symbols sculpted on buildings.

And in the end of this series, a sequence taken during Global Astronomy Month 2013 in the Youth Park near the astronomical observatory of the National Children Palace in Bucharest.
