The current Bucharest Municipal Observatory was created in 1910 by Admiral Vasile Urseanu, the president of the Flammarion Romanian Astronomical Society, which was founded in 1908 by Victor Anestin, also the founder of the magazine Orion in 1907.

After a recent renovation, the current team of this material memory of the first Romanian astronomical society, led by Adrian Bruno Sonka (a laureate of the American Association of Variable Star Observers and contributor to the EURONEAR project) has assumed to realize the astronomical decors of a permanent exhibition, and Elisabeta Petrescu made a special work from light bulbs, which reproduces the most famous northern constellation (tridimensionally respecting the proportion of the inter-stellar distances and bidimensionally, from a special angle, giving a vision as from Earth.
