On planet Earth the third from Sun
the fate of humankind is spun.
When on our journey we embark
as dwellers here to make our mark
there seems no calling we would shun.

The starry night when day is done
shows sweep of space our sight to stun
from where we gaze at heavens’ arc
on planet Earth.

How could we be the only one
where evolution’s course has run
and cosmic life was given spark
within infinity of dark
before our story had begun
on planet Earth?
