Two Rocks In The Desert

In the heat of a desert
far, far away,
two rocks fell into conversation
on this magical day.

"I am round and smooth
from waters that flowed.
It is here I lay,now
thru summer heat and winter cold. 

I came from a mountain
where rivers ran true
and my journey ended here
as I rest next to you.".

The other rock, neither smooth nor round
said, "I come from the sky,
I am now Earth-bound.

My home was an asteroid belt
between Jupiter and Mars.
I traveled to Earth's atmosphere
with other shooting stars.

I was part of an asteroid once,
a giant rock out in Space.
I traveled millions of miles
to this, my final resting place."

Two rocks in the desert
resting side by side
each had a journey,
both survived a wild ride!
