A PILGRIMAGE TO THE KING’S CUPOLA
Astro-photo-poem (cosmopoem) by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe
The Military Astronomical Observatory in Bucharest
was founded in 1895 by a team led by
Constantin I. Bratianu and Constantin Capitaneanu.
Delighted and eager
to make astronomical observations there,
King Carol ordered the additional construction
of a cupola a little later.
On June 29, 2020, I celebrated
125 years of existence of this observatory
(surrounded by trees on a hill in the Youth Park)
making a “pilgrimage” to see its cupola.
Accompanied by the Sun and the Moon,
I climbed something like a “stairway to heaven”…
Then the Sun showed me
another loving way back home.
