THE LEAFY CUPOLA
Astro-photo-poem (cosmopoem) by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe
On July 22, 2020,
I saw life in the Carol I Park.
Then I tried to photograph the cupola
of the main professional observatory
in Romania,
which was founded in 1908
by Nicolae Coculescu,
the first great Romanian researcher of the Sun
and a hunter of solar eclipses around the world,
but it was almost impossible,
the observatory was surrounded by leafy trees.
Anyway, only Coculescu’s memory,
the observatory cupola and me…
I felt it was too little.
Very kind,
the Sun understood the situation
and came to us
for a spontaneous meeting
between four occasional friends.
POST-SCRIPTUM
On the evening of July 28 I returned to the park
and I saw a fragment of the Moon -
the Sun’s traditional partner for solar eclipses.
