ARCHITECTURAL LUNETTES ON THE DAMBOVITA RIVER
(Bucharest, July 27-30, 2020)
Astro-photo-poem (cosmopoem) by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe
The picture above is open to criticism,
but includes three significant elements:
the cupola of an old house
signifies the candid past,
an electric wire
signifies the technological present
and the Little Moon
signifies permanence…
The same picture inspired me
to look for architectural lunettes
(from “Little Moon” in French)
on the left bank of the Dambovita River
and I chose three of them:
1. On a house made in 1902
and modernized after 1990.
2. On the “Agricola-Fonciera” Palace,
made in the 1920s -
the fresco signifies the double condition,
farmer and warrior,
of the Romanian peasant in history.
3. On the “Romanian Youth” Palace,
made in the 1920s -
with a circle in the centre
that signifies the Sun.
Finally I returned to the heroine
who inspired this theme,
the Little Moon,
now in a moment
of urban romanticism.
