AT THE FOOT OF THE BLOCK
Astro-photo-poem (cosmopoem) by Andrei Dorian Gheorghe
Sometimes in the hot evenings of summer 2020
I socialized with old and new friends
from the block where I lived
until I finished my studies.
Respecting the social distancing
imposed by the pandemic,
we talked not just about usual things,
but also about astronomy:
sometimes I explained more
about celestial bodies,
at other times we had free discussions
about various cosmic topics -
a spontaneous and atypical
“summer school” of this kind.
Grateful to Razvan, Mugur, Marian
and Sache in particular
for their interest,
I dedicated to those moments
a symbolic evening
(Bucharest, August 20, 2020),
in which I photographed
everything that was possible there:
the star Arcturus,
the planets Saturn and Jupiter,
the star Vega
and the planet Mars.
I knew I couldn't take good pictures
because of light pollution,
I knew I had to use the zoom
too much,
but on my side
I needed to do a modest demonstration
of astronomical pride.
