Poetry of the Starry Skies of Tahoe Astro-Poetry Contest
Rules and guidelines:
All poems must have an astronomy theme to be considered. Students K-12 are invited to enter. The contest is sponsored by the Fleischmann Planetarium and Tahoe Star Tours. First, Second, and Third Place prizes will be awarded for both entry divisions:
Division 1
Grades k through 6
First Place: Celestron First Scope
Second Place: 10X50 Celestron Binocular
Third Place: Planishpere
Division 2
Grades 7 through 12
Tirst Place: Celestron Astromaster Telescope
Second Place: 10X50 Celestron Binocular
Third Place: Planeisphere
Deadline for sending entries: April 11, 2011
All submissions must be made by e-mail to [email protected] by 16 April 2011
Rules:
1. Poems must be 20 lines or less.
2. Poems must be original and unpublished.
3. All poetry forms accepted.
4. Include name, address, phone number, school, grade, and teacher’s name.
5. Poems must have an astronomy theme.
6. Only one entry per student.
7. All poems must be in English language.
Judging:
1. Winning poems will be picked by a panel of judges.
2. Winners will be announced on April 17, 2011.
3. First place winning poems will be read at the Planetarium Benefit on April 18, 2011
4. Winners must pick up their prizes at the Planetarium by April 30, 2011
