Now you can help astronomy clubs and schools in developing countries acquire small, high-quality telescopes for education and public outreach -- while getting one for yourself!

Through a partnership with CanadianTelescopes.com and Woodland Hills Telescopes you can now purchase a new, high-quality 80mm achromatic short tube refracting telescope, with a solid tripod and mount, at a great price and have a second one donated to a school, astronomy club, planetarium or other deserving group that conducts educational programs.2-for-1-scope

Here's how to participate:
Purchase this high-quality 80mm achromatic refractor from one of our partners for only $20 above the regular retail price. That's it. A second identical instrument will be donated to AWB to be sent to a deserving group in the developing world.

In all countries other than Canada:
Purchase from Woodland Hills Telescopes

In Canada only:
Purchase from CanadianTelescopes.com

Think of your first look through a telescope. Now give children in other countries the gift of that experience. Share the sky.

This program is part of Astronomers Without Border's STAR program (Sharing Telescopes and Resources), which gathers surplus used and new telescopes in the developed world and shares them with others in need. In most of the world, quality telescopes are impossibly expensive, and few education or outreach groups will ever own one. We think the stars are universal and everyone should have the chance to see them clearly up close. Those who support STAR agree.

Don't want a telescope? You can choose to donate both telescopes to groups who will make good use of them.

Want to help Astronomers Without Borders run STAR and other programs? You can donate more when you purchase. Or go to our Support AWB page to learn how to donate or become a Supporting Member.

Observing

Astronomers Without Borders is a US tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Purchase of the telescopes in this program may not be eligible for a US tax deduction because you are receiving one of the telescopes at an appropriate retail price (the $20 above the normal retail price may be an exception). It is CanadianTelescopes.com's and Woodland Hills Telescopes' generous support - at their expense - that makes this program possible. Check with your tax professional.
