NASA Visitor Center Astronomical Fireworks Lecture
The NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center will host an “Astronomical Fireworks” presentation on Thursday, July 5 at 5:30 p.m.
For astronomers, everyday is like the 4th of July! The universe is full explosive events that are not only spectacular to observe, but actually have or have had a direct impact on our very existence. Join us for a tour of this astronomical fireworks show that is going on for us every night.
Presented by Dr. Nicholas Troup, Assistant Professor of Physics at Salisbury University. He received his B.S. in Physics from the University of Delaware in 2012, where he worked under Dr. John Gizis and Dr. Dominic Benford at NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center on various projects involving infrared astronomy. He then pursued his Ph.D. in Observational Astronomy from the University of Virginia under the supervision of Dr. Steven Majewski.
The NASA Visitor Center, located on Va. Rt. 175 about six miles from U. S. Route 13 and five miles from Chincoteague, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
