Thanks to the American Astronomical Society, throughout Global Astronomy Month, we will be featuring a Random Astronomy Fact everyday! Come back daily or tune into our social media channels to find out what is the fact of the day!

Except during totality, is is NOT safe to look directly at the Sun without eye protection.

Solar corona looks different at every total eclipse, shaped by Sun's dynamic magnetic field.

Totality begins and ends with "diamond ring": one bead of sunlight plus band of inner corona.

During totality, animals, birds, and insects behave as if it is nightfall, then daybreak!

During totality, air temperature drops noticeably, sometimes 10 degrees F or even more.
