About Us

Montauk Observatory is a New York State 501(c)(3) nonprofit, established in 2005, dedicated to fostering science education, with emphasis on astronomy and space science, as well as celebrating the synergy between science and the arts. We hold free events throughout Long Island's famous Hamptons communities. We also are constructing the first astronomical observatory on the south fork of Long Island. Among other things, we intend to provide free remote access (via the internet) to the research grade telescope (20" Meade RCX-400) in our observatory to students, researchers, educators, and the general public.
