We had excellent viewing conditions, the location is the Timaru Piazza New Zealand, alot of street lights but we were observing the Moon so light pollution was not too much of a problem.

Members of the South Canterbury Astronomers Group setup ten different instruments for the public to use, 150 people attended,  all age groups.

Many "wow"  were heard so thats all ways a good sign.

This was the first of five events planned for the month of April.

Two girls using there smartphone and iPad to image the moon. The best image captured with the iPad is below.  Quite impressive as they had not done this before.
