Our Night Sky – Understanding the Universe

While this exhibition is on at the South Canterbury Museum, there will be several events held which are open to the public. Some are free while others require a gold coin donation. Lunar Observing Timaru New Zealand - Our first event GAM 2012

We had excellent viewing conditions, the location is the Timaru Piazza New Zealand, alot of street lights but we were observing the Moon so light pollution was not too much of a problem. Members of the South Canterbury Astronomers Group setup ten different instruments for the public to use, 150 people attended, all age groups. Many "wow" were heard so thats all ways a good sign.
