Thursday, March 17 , we held the twelfth session of free public astronomical observations . Using an 8 inch newtonian telescope, we started with solar observations. Later, after sunset, we observed the Moon . Despite a fairly strong wind, the image was clear enough so that people could admire in detail the craters and mountains on the Moon's surface.
Then we observed planet Jupiter. People noticed the cloud formations in the atmosphere of the biggest planet in the Solar System. Also, they could see four of its moons (Io, Europa, Callisto and Ganymede), two of them being very close to the planet's disk. We observed 'live' the disappearance of IO behind Jupiter.
