Tuesday, April 12 2016, Vâlcea Astronomy Club held another Sidewalk Astronomy event in Râmnicu Vâlcea, Vâlcea County, Romania. Despite the clouds that occasionally covered the sky, the people who passed through downtown were able to see planet Jupiter with its four Galilean moons and craters, mountains and maria on the surface of our own Moon. Thursday, March 17 , we held the twelfth session of free public astronomical observations . Using an 8 inch newtonian telescope, we started with solar observations. Later, after sunset, we observed the Moon . Despite a fairly strong wind, the image was clear enough so that people could admire in detail the craters and mountains on the Moon's surface.
