First Place:

I LOOK UP AT THE SKY

BY ZIQI LU, XINXIANG CITY, HENAN PROVINCE, CHINA

I look up at the sky
Starlight, slowly pour like the firefly
Together we feel the night
feel the starlight

The sun shines bright
The moon light, warm and soft
But the many many starlight
They are lovely and I like

Second Place:

PER CONSCIENTIA AD ASTRA (TO THE STARS THROUGH CONSCIOUSNESS)

BY ELIZABETH GUTIERREZ, INGLESIDE, ILLINOIS, U.S.A.

I often lie under the suburban, Midwestern night sky
To stare at the glistening heavens up above.
I become pensive
About the mysteries of life,
And the mystery of my existence.
I begin to wonder if somewhere,
Far beyond the Milky Way galaxy,
In the vastness of the cosmic ocean,
There is a God watching down over me.
Am I alone in the Universe,
Or is there another being looking up at the stars I do,
Contemplating the same thoughts as me?
My body is a part of the Cosmos,
Composed of dead stars and
Reborn into the body of a human.
I am the Cosmos, and the Cosmos resides within me,
Yet the question always remains the same:
How can my existence in the Cosmos
Feel supreme and infinitesimal at the same time?

Third Place:

A DARK OCEAN PAINTS THE SKY

BY MEGAN FOX, GRAYSLAKE, ILLINOIS, U.S.A.

A dark ocean paints the sky,
And the pale moon sets itself
Into the canvas of the night.

The brush strokes illuminate
The inviting pale glow of the stars
Over the tiny blue dot below.

The Earth, the dot, it rotates around,
Humming silently to the electric tune
Of the transcribed humanity.

This song of time has barely started,
Sounding notes of triumph and defeat,
While the moon follows swiftly in the canvas of the sky.

It follows the rythym of the tune,
Pushing and pulling in unison with the Earth;
In a dance of centuries past and a dance of centuries more.

Honorable Mention:

SHOOTING STAR

BY GRISELDA, TANGERANG, INDONESIA

Love as if
You’re the shooting star
That falls for the right person
At the right time

Honorable Mention:

SKY

BY JANE GABRIELA, TANGERANG, INDONESIA

Silent, dark and huge
looking at the silent night
looking at the stars
looking at the half moon
There’s shadow on my face
Keep silent
I face this life
There’s only hope to make
me strong
Oh world
What does it mean?
It’s so nice in my eyes
but I don’t know the reality
I just wonder
call me wonderrer
