Virtual hands held across the land,
as the pandemic prevents all touch.
Social distance and isolation
deprive too many from too much.

The lack of freedom, follow the rules,
some feel stranded, weary, alone.
The homeless wander in streets abandoned
oblivious of restrictions well-known.

Facial expressions we once understood
now covered by crinkled masks of blue.
We connect through the eyes of strangers
As our smiles are now masked, too.

Mankind may die and turn to dust,
but which realms of nature survive?
If humans are so easily cast away,
what will be left to enjoy the sky?

Just curious, aren't you?
