Astronomers Without Borders is seeking a Coordinator for Global Astronomy Month 2013 (GAM 2013). This is a part-time position (20 hours per week to start). The position is available immediately and will continue through May 2013. Hours are flexible and location is not a consideration as long as there is a good internet connection, though the successful applicant will need to be flexible with hours to allow for meetings with others in different times zones. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Required skills and experience include excellent spoken and written English, experience in coordinating and/or managing paid staff and volunteers, and the ability to create resource documents.
Desirable but not required skills and experience include basic graphics editing skills such as cropping and resizing, good writing skills, and website maintenance experience (especially Joomla).
Primary tasks include coordination of the GAM Executive Committee of program chairs, coordination of programs that have no dedicated chairs, communications with program partners, creation and maintenance of website content with the assistance of the webmaster, management of news article writers and editors, and maintenance of social media channels.
