Astronomers Without Borders (AWB) will be presented to audiences at three important conferences in May and June.
The International Space Development Conference (ISDC) is the annual meeting of the National Space Society, a US-based AWB Affiliate. Convening in Washington, DC, USA this year, AWB will be introduced to international participants from both government space agencies and private space exploration companies. AWB President Mike Simmons will also participate in the public announcement of the creation of the Overview Institute, a new organization dedicated to promoting peaceful and cooperative relations through the Overview Effect, the perspective astronauts get when looking back at a borderless Earth from space. AWB also promotes the message that we all share a unified Earth. Observing the borderless sky from Earth is the “Overview Effect” for those of us who won’t travel into space.
The American Astronomical Society’s meeting in St. Louis, USA will include a meeting-within-a-meeting as the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP) focuses on the International Year of Astronomy 2009 for professional and amateur astronomers and educators. Both AWB and The World at Night (TWAN) will be presented at the ASP meeting.
TWAN will be the subject again for a presentation at the Annual General Meeting of the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA), in Tucson, USA.
