Thanks to the American Astronomical Society, throughout Global Astronomy Month, we will be featuring a Random Astronomy Fact everyday! Come back daily or tune into our social media channels to find out what is the fact of the day!

During totality, sunrise/sunset colors are visible all around the horizon. Beautiful!

During totality, sky gets about as dark as deep twilight. Bright stars & planets come out!

Solar corona (faint outer atmosphere) is as bright as full Moon and just as safe to look at.

During totality it is perfectly safe to look directly at the Sun. At all other times, no!

Brief total phase of total solar eclipse is called "totality." An unforgettable experience!
