I did an astronomical activity for all my followers at social media for July 30 and 31 of 2018. The planet Mars is in its approach to our planet and it is time to talk a little about this astronomical event that fascinates us all. From Caguas, Puerto Rico, I share with you these informative facts about the Red Planet and the observations you make as an amateur. The video report is in Spanish language. I hope you enjoy it Clear skies for all For view the video report, please click link below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdLFAfwsoDw&t= Read More...
I include the results of the astrophotography that we made live from the observation of the opposition of Mars on July 27, 2018 at 8:30 pm from Caguas, Puerto Rico. The astrophotographers are Fernando Roquel Torres and Erica Correa Felix. In this photo you can show how the dust of the sahara can affect the captures, also the red planet was covered by a storm of dust which can be perceived in the photograph. That did not prevent observing its polar ice caps and regions of the planet. Read More...
The Astrofotografia y Ciencia Team (Fernando Roquel Torres and Erica Correa Felix), was given the task of introducing enthusiasts in astronomy, astrophotography and space exploration through social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram) the event o f the opposition of Saturn since RoquelObservatory in Caguas, Puerto Rico on 6/15/2017. The opposition of Saturn is known as that this planet is in the opposite direction with our star the Sun. The Earth is in the middle of Saturn and the Sun getting closer to us. In the planetary simulator Stellarium indicates that it is 9,043 astronomical units (1,352,773,000 km). This distance although... Read More...
I share my capture of comet C / 2015 V2 Johnson from Caguas, Puerto Rico on May 27, 2017. This capture was with DSLR camera and tripod without using telescope or self-guided mount. Saludos! Hot night of June 25, 2016, I proposed to capture the planet Mars from my home in Caguas , Puerto Rico. I built my astronomical equipment (Meade LX90, Orion Mount Sirius EQ-G, barlow and camera Luminos Celestron NexImage 5) all controlled by stellarium scope and Celestron ASCOM drivers installed on a laptop Alienware 17. At 8:30 pm, I started capture the planet Mars at 25 fps a video of 3.30 minutes at 1024 x 768 resolution. The weather conditions were not optimal because it is going through a curtain of particulate dust of the Sahara. Once completed with a catch... Read More...
