The Astronomical Society of Tasmania has been in existence for over 70 years and currently has over 70 members interested in all aspects of amateur astronomy.The society meets once a month for talks,discussions and lectures and every friday night for observing with the telescopes the society owns such as Meade 12" LX200 CF, 12" Dobsonian, 14" Celestron SCT and various other member's telescopes.
The society promotes interest in astronomy by giving talks and demonstrations to local societies,schools scout groups etc.and holding a two day introductory training course twice a year as well as public open nights usually twice a year.
