Mead Observatory's Mobile Asttronomy

About Us

Columbus State University's Space Science Center and Mead Observatory built upon its existing outreach programs to expand its "Mobile Astronomy" project.  This project involves reaching out to schools and the general public, to interest, excite, and educate them about astronomy and space science.  In particular, our project involves bringing telescopes and a portable planetarium for presentations at local schools and public facilities; holding "Astronomy Nights" of astronomy discussion and observation at local park sites; holding special events such as a planet viewing for Global Astronomy Month; and developing internet-based outreach tools such as remote observing, webcasts, weblogs and podcasts.
