After long years of wonderful working as (Amateur Astronomers Association of Kurdistan -AAAK) from 2005 till 2013, we decided to make it Non-Governmental organization and make it free and away from any effects or pressures from outside.

After the dissolution of the AAAK's board, Now, we are working as (Kurdistan Astronomical Organization - KAO) after we got our official code from (Directorate of Non-Governmental Organizations of Kurdistan Region) in 2015.7.12 under the code of 2886.

As our beloved former AAAK, KAO is the first nonprofit and non-governmental astronomical organization, our main goals are:
Star Parties, Seminars, Astrophotography camping, exhibitions and made strong bridges around the world through the the SKY and ASTRONOMY.
