A study on how to show stars at Vierves-sur-Viroin

Raoul LannoyDuring the first week-end of october 2010, the frenchspeaking amateur astronomers federation organized a study about various ways to show stars for educational purposes. It happened in a very beautiful Walloon village, near the french border, at Vierves-sur Viroin. We learned how to create, with paper, scissors and glue a planisphere, an animated zodiac (showing the difference between the astrological and the astronomical zodiacs). InOMN with langitselatan
September 18, 2010, although we were in 2 weeks holiday for Eid Mubarak, langitselatan decide to hold a gathering session for InOMN (International Observe of Moon Night) and this gathering was also meant as "silaturahmi" session. In Indonesia, during Eid Mubarak, we had "silaturhami" custom. This is a custom of family gathering in Indonesia during Eid Mubarak and also during Christmas. InOMN event in Jamaica
The 18th started out with very bright sunlight in Kingston and we expected a good night. But by 6 PM clouds started to gather. We however went to our site at Up Park Camp at six and set up Telescopes. There were intermittent Clouds over the Moon and Venus. While waiting for the clouds to open, we advised the guests to watch with a clearance in the West North West for the appearance of the Space Station On the dot of 6.50pm. InOMN event in Brazil
The event happened during the 17th and 18th nights at Gonçalves Dias Square in Sao Luis, Brazil. Promoted for Sociedade de Astronomia do Maranhao and the partners GEAST and UEMA. InOMN at The Tiger Boys Open House
Hey there, fellow Astronomers Without Borders... We tried to hold our Star Party at The Tiger Boys Open House, (a fly-in for antique aircraft held at Guelph AirPark in Ontario, Canada) on the Saturday night, but it started pouring rain right at sunset. Rather than give up, we opted to try again the following night and were rewarded with exactly the opposite conditions – the clouds departed at sunset! InOMN event at PATS
The Pacific Astronomy and Telescope Show (PATS) in Pasadena, California, USA is the premier astronomy showcase program on the west coast of the United States, attended by manufacturers, dealers and more. Astronomers Without Borders was there with a booth in a large exhibition of images from The World at Night . InOMN report from Ghana
A severe and lengthy rainstorm over Accra threatened to wash out International Observe the Moon Night at the Ghana Planetarium, but luckily the rain stopped in mid-afternoon, just in time for the 5pm start of our event. The attendees were a good mixture of families with children, Physics students from the University and others including many for whom it was the first visit to the Planetarium. InOMN Report from Maine
The clubs here didn't organize anything for this event sadly, and I was gone for the week before and not there to spur things on. So, I took my 10 inch Dob to the little tiny strip mall in the next village and did a small event there. InOMN in Brazil in honor of Prof. Marcomede
Here in our city we had the sky with clouds and wasn't possible to see the Moon. We organized a video-conference in honor of prof. Marcomede Rangel Nunes. We used the Astronomers without Borders Adobe system. Thanks Mike and Paul!!! Was an unforgettable experience. We had participants from 3 countries and from many Brazilian States. InOMN broadcasting setup
Here is the illustration of how we do what we do. The moon on the ceiling is a rough composite to show the setup. The camera/adapter/lense combination is a temporary setup to show what's possible. Any old camera lense and telescope eyepiece seems to work, and just needs an adapter tube. I plan on that setup being a guiding system with a screen available to the public also, to see the objects ahead of the actual naked eye view, at public events. Well, a rotten night over much of New Zealand for InOMN, but we went ahead with the indoor portion of our event in Levin anyway. Only a small number of people braved the weather to pay us a visit, and many would've assumed that it would not have been on at all. InOMN images of NZ and Australian activity
Broadcast the moon about 40 mins after local moonrise, as soon as it got above the mountains and clouds. Had massive gales and rain and long blue clear patches, a cold snap, and had to cancel outdoor events. All good though, built new relationships and strengthened older ones, had extensive communications with our astro communities here, many positive responses, although some big gaps of nothing still! InOMN 2010 Nicaragua, Brief Report
On Saturday, September 18th, 2010, the Nicaraguan Amateur Astronomers Society (ANASA) took position on Galerias Santo Domingo, a public and crowded mall in the outskirts of Managua, Nicaragua. The event was publicized on ANASA's Facebook page, Twitter, ClickManagua and Galerías Santo Domingo. Carrying AWB's small buttons over our chest next to ANASA's logo, with 4 telescopes in the ranges of 3, 4.5, 6 and 12 inches and a compilation of multimedia material related to the Moon exploration by LRO, Kaguya and Apollo; ANASA spent more than 3 hours attending more than 400 visitors at the location. MOON THROUGH CLOUDS!... InOMN in Iraq
There was clouds, a heavy one right after noon of September 18.2010, it takes only few hours after a thunder storm with heavy showers, local dusty strong wind blow and then muddy rain! We were hopeless for a little while to see Moon again after cloudy dusk, but we decide to take the telescope inside Minara Central Park in Erbil city at 06:00 pm local. Iraqis and Gulf people together…Welcomed the Giant Planet!
It was truly very wonderful evening and very different than in the (InOMN) event at 09/18/2010. Jupiter, was at the closest point to Earth on 20 and 09.21.2010 and the title of this activity was (Let's Welcome the Giant), and proudly joined us (Emirates mobile Astronomical Observatory) which designed and made by the pride of amateur astronomers (Nizar Sallam) and the active astronomical researcher from Bahrain (Ali Al-Hijre), who also initiated the process of monitoring Jupiter at that evening. International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) 2010

Raoul LannoyHello all, Yesterday september started earlier in the late afternoon ; I went to Dinant in the Ardennes to join a Moon party! The Cercle Astronomique Mosan organized a Moon observation Night, thanks to its most Moon fan member, Albert De Bruijn, called "Moonwalker" ! He had planned a game for visitors using their refractor in the observatory and an eyepiece with graduation. Everything is ready for the International Observe the Moon Night 2010 in Nicaragua
With only few hours to go, ANASA is ready to participate in the largest Lunar Observing event of the World in 2010. If weather permits, we will install 4 telescopes for public moongazing and a fifth one for live broadcasting of the surface of the Moon.
