About Us

Fessenkov Astrophysical Instatute has three observatories around Almaty city with 0.5 to 1.0 meter telescopes. The research programs are connected with the study of the Sun, planetaru atmospheres, stars, gas-dust nebulaes, galactics with active cores and other observational and theoretic works. Institute was founded in 1950 by academician Vasiliy Fessenkov at active support by academician Kanysh Satpaev who was a first president of Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences.
