Greetings Astronomers! Did you ever think on make your own instruments accessories? Nowadays, alternatives for creating your own tools and materials are actually diverse. For some time, I wanted to buy some accessories for making Astrophotography. Normally a good option would be to acquire a robust metal made accessories, considering a T-ring and specific adapter in case of Nikon/Canon DSLR Cameras. Which is great and work properly. Moreover, cost and transportation is also a consideration depending on your location. Being in charge of San Agustin Astronomy and Space Sciences Club, I was noticed of some robotic projects by using 3D... Read More...
Hello Astronomers! When talking about taking care of instrumentation, we think on telescope cases for avoiding dust and sun exposure. This year was suitable for developing proper astronomy projects such as Astrophotography, observation reporting and maintenance of equipment. Therefore, one important thing I was planning for a while was the acquisition of cases for taking care of telescopes as they should. My first alternative was to identify and consider to buy dedicated cases online. Moreover, the considerable cost and pandemic affection on delivery, dismissed it as an option. So by using low cost materials and some handcraft work, I reached... Read More...
Hello Astronomers! For sure this period of quarantine was challenging for everyone. Furthermore a positive mind is more than important! We will overcome this time. Greetings and Clear Skies! On October, 1st I had the opportunity to visit the Ancient Observatorie in Beijing, China. Declared as UNESCO world Astronomical Heritage, the observatory was built in 1442 with Ming dinasty and during Qing dinasty it was expanded. It is located in DongCheng District. Besides structures, eight bronze instruments were constructed by Qing dinasty with Flemish Jesuit Ferdinand Verbiest: Chidao jingwei yi / 赤道经纬仪 - Equatorial armillary sphere Huangao jingwei yi / 黄道经纬仪 - Ecliptic armillary sphere Tianti yi / 天体仪 - Celestial Sphere Diping jingyi / 地平经仪 - Azimuthal ring Xiangxian yi / 象限仪 - Quadrant... Greetings and Clear Skies! On July 27, World event of a Lunar Eclipse, The Astronomy Club of San Agustín School developed an Observational activity where we focused on determining a dilemma in reference to the institutions of sciences, observatories, planetariums and avtivists of Astronomy in Boliva: Was it possible to observe the Eclipse in Cochabambaba, Bolivia (17.4140 ºS, 66.1653º W)? Being that different opinions and affirmations existed, the Club decided to arm its telescopes and to observe the sky at 6:13 pm. Being able to confirm the visibility of the Eclipse, the answer: Yes it was : The activity went... Read More...
