The Western Colorado Astronomy Club was founded in 1989 by a small group of local amateur astronomers. Our mission is to foster interest and promote education in astronomy in the Grand Valley of Mesa County, Colorado. Club membership does not require a telescope or other optical equipment, just an interest in the majesty of the night sky. Membership benefits include access to members-only content on the website (newsletter blog, discussion forum, etc.), and The Reflector, a quarterly national newsletter published by the Astronomical League. We also offer expert advice on telescope use and purchases, lectures on astronomy and cosmology, and loans of club-owned telescopes. As part of the larger community, we encourage preservation of the night sky as a natural resource for all to study, photograph, and enjoy.
