Founded in 1859, we are one of the oldest societies in the country and yet one of the liveliest. Members come from all ages and walks of life. Alonside our internal society activities, we are also committed to promoting a wider public interest in astronomy in the Leeds area.
The society has a full programme of monthly meetings at our venue near the University?with visiting speaskers and informal sessions where members can show slides, demonstrate equipment and swap notes. Visits to observatories and other places of astronomical?interest are often organised.
Public observing sessions are regularly on offer at a pub in North Leeds?along with access to the society's excellent collection of instruments.
We publish a quarterly journal 'Nebula' - free to members.
Event and membership?details can be found on our website.
