HUNT FOR SABAH MILKY WAY 2.0 18th - 22nd April — In parallel to Global Astronomy Month 2018, Sabah Stargazers hold a trip to eastern part of Sabah for 5 days and 4 cloudless nights. In objectives of spreading awareness on light pollution, this trip is also to spread the awareness of Sabah Dark Sky to tourist and to the community in Sabah. Sabah Stargazers celebrates The Global Astronomy Month 2018 in various place across Sabah, Northern Borneo of Malaysia. Our team organize and conduct astronomy astivities to spread awareness on astronomy education. Así es como podríamos resumir las actividades realizadas en España. Gran parte del país estaba nublado y con lluvias, lo que impidió realizar muchas de las actividades programadas. Hubieron asociaciones que se esperaron hasta última hora para poder realizarlas, pero al final el GAM se disfrutó como se pudo. La actividad más activa fue el Star Party del 21 de Abril, en Elche acudieron alrededor de 150 personas, una cifra que se acerca a nuestra media habitual. My heart swells when you see the faces of the people after looking through a solar telescope for the 1st time. To mark the "Astronomy Week" and GAM - Global Astronomy Month from Astronomers Without Borders, American Corner Pristina kindly hosted Astronomy Club of Kosovo. We had fine weather here in Austria - not taken for granted in April ;-) - so the members of our local astronomy association " Linzer Astronomische Gemeinschaft " could start our "Global Starparty" on April 21. Even "Sunday" on April 22. was nice ....... ... and we could show to the visitors some sunspots :-) Our AWB-affiliate "Sternfreunde Steyr" had a successfull sun-observing-event at " Starpark Hohe Dirn - Observatory ". Pupils worked in 7 different groups. The observation started at 8 pm with a short introduction (star poetry) and instructions on safe observation. Then the visitors were divided into groups and the leaders took them along the stations. On April 28, 2018, we celebrated GAM2018 at Inter-University Centre of Astronomy & Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, India. 270 people participated in the programme with great enthusiasm. At the beginning, there was an interactive session conducted by the Public Outreach team. In this session, the importance of the moon around the earth was emphasised. Club de Ciencia Boadilla has organized a solar observation with h-alfa telescope, on April 28th 2018 according to its program of activities for this month. The sky was very cloudy which caused that only 8 optimistic astronomy amateurs have attended the activity. It was only possible to observe well the Sun just brief periods of time, during which we were able to see a plain Sun without solar protuberances, or other interesting solar phenomena on its surface. April 14, 2018/Beijing, China/ Reported by Sharon XIAO Haiying HaoMiao Astronomy Club hosted a Messier Marathon Astronomy Activity during the 3rd weekend of April for their members. Total 35 participants have been involved in this function from the beginning to the end, they were club members (primary school students), their families & their leading teachers.
