Star Party in Jamnagar
I organized a public program as star party near Amusement park in Jamnagar. As it was Sunday there was a huge rush of public visiting the Amusement park. So I was kept the 6" reflector telescope outside of the park. Approx 300 persons observed through telescope and watched the Jupiter. GAM 2017 Philippines – The 2nd and 3rd Week
The first week of the 2017 Global Astronomy Month celebration in the Philippines was dominated with free telescope viewing (FTV) events. The Philippine local astronomy community is very active in its astronomy outreach and telescope viewing events. Here is a listing of GAM activities for the 2nd and 3rd week: The 9 th day of April has the Manila Street Astronomers (MSA) setting up at the Alabang Town Center to showcase the Moon and Jupiter. GAM 2017: Astrocamp and outdoor activities from Vietnam
Our annual astrocamp was held on 15-16Apr 2017 in celebrating GAM. This camp attracted nearly 100 participants in a wide range of ages (from kids to adults). Location: Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Natural Reserve- Xuyen Moc District- Ba Ria Vung Tau Province, Vietnam Target: 1. Skytour (observing the night sky, celestial objects, planets, Moon, asterism and constellations). 2. Water rocket launch 3. Solar observation 4. Donating a minor planet during GAM2017
Yesterday, April 19th 2017, I had the pleasure to organize a very special event during GAM2017. Our local astronomical society (LAG) is running an observatory outpost in the northernwest countryside of Linz. This outpost is situated in the municipal area of Gramastetten. They host us for more than 20 years, so we decided to say officially thankyou to the local municipal and to all people there supporting us, especially our local landlord, an organic farmer who is supporing us in any matters for decades. Yuri's Night 2017 - Vienna
On 12th of April 2017, as every year since 2009, the local Viennese-Association- "Der ORION" celebrated Yuri's Night. Together with the "Austrian Space Forum" (OEWF) and partners from space science & industry. The accompanying programm included top-class lectures and a visit from an femal Italian ISS astronaut - Samantha Cristoforetti - and the yearly awards show "Polarsternpreis" (Polarstarprize) given to people who enthuse people for space, space travel, space science & astronomy. Bright meteor recorded in northern ES
A bright meteor was recorded on the northern sky of the Holy Spirit in the early hours of April 13, 2017 at 00:25 am local time. Yuri's Night 2017
12 April 1961, Yuri Gagarin, with his spacecraft Vostok, completed an orbit of the Earth. Our events purpose was to celebrate this days anniversary. We made presentations about, astronomy, beginning of rockets, Life and death of Yuri Gagarin, Is there life beyond the atmosphere and if there is at what form?, and lastly Astrobiology; Biology of Aliens. GAM2017 – Philippines; the First Week
The Global Astronomy Month celebration began on Saturday April 1, 2017 with the Global Star Party as its first event. The Filipino Astronomy community is very active in astronomy outreach so for the entire week the free telescope viewing events are very dominant. There were three free telescope viewing event setups reported for the first day. The first two were by the Manila Street Astronomers (MSA), and the other was by the Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP). We do take part to GAM events when it's possible (it might be the case tonight!)..The weather is very umpredictable, though. We have started with spreading the awareness of Astronomy as a science and spoke about the Light pollution and importance of Dark sky conservation. Then educated about the Moon formation and evolution and the science behind the phases of the moon. Followed by Moon observation through Binoculars to show the craters, Maria and High lands. Later explained what actually shooting stars or meteors are! Finally ended with the basic understanding of the night sky and the use of stars for navigation and time tracking. Again this year members of our local astronomical society (LAG - Linzer Astronomische Gemeinschaft) startet the Global Astronomy Month joining to the Global Starparty on Saturday evening 1. April 2017. Many walkers crossing the main square of Linz stopped at our little GAM-Astronomy-exhibition. We offered to these interested people a look through our telescopes (mainly focused on the moon - we had several clouds ) and told them a lot about stargazing and all activities around the globe and about activities at our local observatory. Raoul LannoyOn april 1st, I left for Brussels (instead of Ramillies where the Day of astronomy was cancelled due to bad weather and no plan B possibilities). In Brussels, in a school with the club Latitude 5050. We were inside a classroom. Two members made conferences (Jean about what's in the solar system, the other (Thierry) about incredible or less incredible (true or fake) things about the Universe.
