Greetings and Clear Skies! As an experiment expected by students, the Astronomy Club of San Agustín School developed the activity: Augmented Reality Astronomy 4D For this purpose the free allocation application OCTAGON 4D - SPACE was used, this application works with the technology of recognition of augmented reality which is presented as a very collaborative tool when teaching Astronomy, for its diversity of functionalities, implementation cost and quality of interface. The students developed an experimental session, filling a descriptive report of the observed objects, the requirements were: Printed guides Physical Letters - OCTAGON SPACE Own Tablet / Smarthphone Installed application... Our team has briefed attendees with some information about the red planet and we we were there to answer each and every question. For several weeks now, I have been trying to attempt amateur astrophotography. I tried to build a cell phone adapter mount to install on my telescope and take pictures, but the mount I built was not very efficient. After, I bought a Gosky Cell Phone mount and installed it on my refractor telescope. I took some pictures of the moon over a span of two days with my old iPod, which is why the pictures aren't of the best quality, but I'll be attempting to take some photos with my newer iPhone in the following week. These are few of... Read More...

Hi All, Wondering if anyone else saw a bright star-like light coming from very close to or from the Lagoon Nebula. I observed this light at about 9:50pm CDT. Once I saw it it stayed bright about 1 minute and then dimmed over a period of about 20 seconds. The light was not moving relative to Saturn which is just north of Sagittarius so I am quite sure it was not a satillite. It was about as bright as Saturn and was redish, similar to Scorpius a* Antares. Very interesting, hope someone else saw it and can confirm my observation.... Read More...
We started the event with 3 Astronomy 101 presentations with 253 participants in attendance. During the presentations we gave an overview of the objects visible in the night sky and telescope etiquette. There were also resources avaialble in the lobby before and after the presentations. For the telescope viewing we had perfect weather and clear skies. Participants were able to view Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, 4 of Jupiter's Moons and Saturn. Mars was starting to rise as the event was coming to an end but was visible with the naked eye. While participants were waiting in the telescope lines, they could... Read More...

Background Astronomy in Bolivia presents great challenges for its diffusion, development and incersión of professional form to our means. Cochabamba, Bolivia presents a incubator of human potential for science, technology and engineering. The San Agustín school is an academic benchmark of excellence presented by consecutive winners of the Bolivian multinational student scientist Olympiads (OCEPB). San Agustín School has been active since... Read More...
We started off viewing Venus, then Jupiter. We went to the Moon then finally Saturn. I explained the best time to view the Moon when it isn't so full with my pan of flour. We made some craters and shined the flashlight at different angles to show how the shadows and light can make the surface more interesting. We also went over why we can't see the flag on the Moon, and why we only see one side of the Moon. The demos really helped them understand their questions. It was so cool I had a prop for almost every... Read More...

I hosted a star party for the public on June 1st, 2018 for people in my community in Dubai, UAE. Like with any public event in Dubai, it was very diverse, and roughly 30 people showed up! Since we're in the city, we focused on planetary & lunar observations. Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars (coming up late) were more than enough to make people say "WOW!". Being Ramadan, the event started later in the evening (10pm), most people stayed about 30 minutes or so to observe Jupiter, Saturn, The Moon, and some brighter stars (like Arcturus, Antares, and Vega) - we... Dear friends, I want to share this exciting news with you. We now possess the Observatory of Pristina. It might not be the best place but as for the moment it is a giant leap for Kosovo. For decades, our society has shown an indifference to astronomy until 2014 when the first science and astronomy club "Astronomy Club of Kosovo" was founded, opening the way for the establishment of several other astronomy groups in other cities of Kosovo and spreading the beautiful meaning to everyone. We can't wait to open to the public! Now all we need is to renovate... Read More...
