National Star Party Weekend in the Netherlands
March 11 and 12 is the National Star Party Weekend in the Netherlands. In over 60 places throughout the country the public can enjoy the night sky through a variety of telescopes. Observing Jupiter From Libya
This period of the year is considered to be extraordinary to observe planet Jupiter and its marvellous moons. It will be quite possible to spot and track Jupiter at the dome of the night sky, where the planet will be visually clear to observers from east at the night's first hours and to be seen from west at dawn. C/2013 US Comet Catalina & M101 - Pinwheel Galaxy

Sirius Rising Above Grossmugl Star Walk
For the remaining weeks of winter Sirius dominates the evening sky. Being the brightest of all stars in our night sky, it rises around nightfall this time of the year. The image, shot on January 22, 2016, shows Sirius rising above the Leeberg tumulus, a 2500 years old ancient burial mound at the endpoint of the Grossmugl Star Walk. The Grossmugl Star Walk is located in Austria, Europe, only half an hour's drive from Vienna. FASE Astronomical Workshop – North Central Province
The fourth FASE provincial astronomical workshop program was held for North Central province on 14th of December 2015 at Faculty of Applied Sciences, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. The mission of this program is to boost the number of professional and scholars engaged on astronomy and related fields, for the advancement of science and technology to benefit mankind. Planets Saturn and Venus Conjunction 1/9/2016
For all enthusiast of astronomy / astrophotography people around the world. I share my capture for the conjunction of planets Saturn and Venus from Caguas, Puerto Rico 1/9/2016 - 5:20am. I used the astronomical equipment Meade LX90, Antares Reducer F/6.3 with the NexImage 5 Planetary Camera. Both planets fits in focal field of the planetary camera. Hidden Hydrogen Marvel Sh2-27
Near the head of the constellation Scorpius glows an immense red gas bubble like a celestial ghost. It has a diameter of 10 degrees, which corresponds to the size of a fist held at arm's length. The innocuous name of this vast expanse of hydrogen gas is Sharpless 2-27. In spite of its enormous size it is invisible to human eyes and even astrophotography almost always fails to capture it. Some astonishing details on Aldebaran's occultation by the moon.
On December 23rd 2015 an interesting detail was captured here at our local public observatory (Kepler Sternwarte Linz/Austria). Herbert Raab (chief of our local association) used an DSLR and our 130mm APO to make a video of the occultation. Due to the fact the RedGiant Aldebaran has an angular diameter of 0,02" (arcseconds) - which is equal observing a human hair at the distance of 500 meter !!! - the star did not suddenly disappear. The Moon's speed was about 0,55" per second which is equal ~0,01" between single videoframes - so we could capture the "fading-out" of the star.... Read More...

Untracked DSLR Astrophotography
For astrophotography with a DSLR it is common practice to set the camera on top of an equatorial mount or other tracking device. This way, Earth's rotation gets compensated and long exposures of star fields and the Milky Way become possible. Presentation at Natural History Museum Vienna
project nightflight had been invited by the Natural History Museum Vienna to give a presentation about their work on the evening of November 11, 2015. For this occasion, the members of the astrophotography group designed a special multi-media presentation focusing on the beauty of the night sky. The event was very well attended, an audience of about 200 came to the worldwide renowned museum to experience the starry sky in colorful nightscapes and deep-sky images. The "space bulls" 2015 - Taurids
Every year the Earth passes through the meteor stream called Complex of Taurids in two periods: Jun / Jul and October / November. In the first period produces meteors coming from the Earth's dayside, so less vigorous. Bolide in Rio de Janeiro
At 01: 59h local time a large meteor crossed the ocean toward the state of Rio de Janeiro and its glare in the sky was realized in several states of the southeast region of the country. The preliminary data indicate an intense glow, much larger than the full moon and a higher trajectory 150km over the skies of the southeast coast of the country. The meteor lasted about 5 seconds to disintegrate on the Earth's atmosphere and several reports are being sent to the Exoss. Three stations Exoss Citizen Science registered the bolide.
