This year I had the great pleasure and honour to be invited to the 5th International Meeting of Astronomy and Astronoautics in Campos dos Goytacazes (Brazil) to represent AWB from the point of view of of an NC in the heart of Europe. Arriving in Brasil means to meet very friendly people, laughing and happy people, people with high dedication, for example with great dedication to astronomy in Campos. This depends on Marcelo de Oliveira Souza, a man with a big heart, with a nice wife and a dedication to astronomy you have to search for ! Reading his meeting... Read More...
Read More...

Here at Saadat-shahr in April1-7 we put the telescopes at popular streets of city to introduce the Moon and answer the questions of people. Saadat-shahr , near to Pasargadae World Heritage , is known as Astronomy Town in Iran because of a great passion to astronomy and skygazing among locals. Astronomy is involved with everyday life and culture here, after years of broad activity by the town's astronomy association which also resulted in Astronomical Society of Pacific 2006 Amateur Outreach Award for Asghar Kabiri , the leading astronomy educator in the town. Many wedding ceremonies end with star party and... Read More...

With a couple of properly filtered telescope, educational posters, mylar hand-hel filters and a solar kitchen, ANASA and FUPROSOMUNIC (a.k.a. Women of the Sun), shared their love for the Sun with the people of Catarina. This Sun Day april 1st was no April Fool's day for us! The club d'astronomie d'Ottignies Louvain-La-Neuve got the permission from the police to display telescopes on the Main City Hall at Louvain-La-Neuve. It's mainly a University Town with no car circulation (cars are parked underground, luckily not too far from our observation place, outside. We had about 4 or 5 different telescopes, all aimed at the Sun and all with different kinds of filters. At 11 AM, we started the day with almost immediately people wondering what it was about. All day long, we benefitted from a sunny generous... Read More...
