A new podcast produced by “ 365 Days of Astronomy ” shows how you can participate in dark-skies-related activities during Global Astronomy Month (GAM), including: • The citizen-science light pollution research program, GLOBE at Night , which includes two campaigns (at times when the moon is not out from 8 pm–10 pm) — one from 31 March through 9 April, and another from 29 April through 8 May. • The Earth and Sky Photo Contest , an activity of The World At Night (TWAN), which is accepting entries through 22 April. • International Dark Sky Week , 5–12 April.

Global Astronomy Month 2013 has begun and there’s more to do than ever. Spread the excitement with the GAM 2013 trailer! Featuring photos from past GAM events around the world and beautiful night sky images and time-lapse videos, it’s a two minute summary of what GAM is all about. It’s perfect for club meetings and outreach events. You can watch the GAM 2013 trailer on YouTube or Vimeo . High-resolution and low-resolution versions are available for download.

The Global Astronomy Month in April 2013 brings the 4th International Earth and Sky Photo Contest on Dark Skies Importance. Coordinated by The World At Night (TWAN), the contest runs from now through Earth Day, April 22, and is open to anyone of any age.

It’s time to polish up your creativity! How? By writing an astropoem and entering it in the GAM2013 AstroPoetry Contest . Or, if you’re a teacher, encourage your students to enter. Poems should be submitted between 1 and 30 April. They may be in any style or form. It is preferred that they be less than 30 lines in length. To be judged in the contest, poems must be in English.
